External Hard Drive Question. My computer mixed up F and G
August 7th, 2016
How can I get my computer back to knowing my left front USB is my F drive and my right front my G drive?
Also, is there a way to have 4 external drives put in at once?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who took the time to read this.
Super big thanks in advance to any who try to solve this!
-First, make sure that all your USB Drives work. I recently had a problem with my USB. I kept disconnecting.
-Second, You could use a HUB, this may slow down data transfer but better than nothing. -If you Want your comp to recognize G as F or F as G. Try renaming them, this may help.
-The computer assigns the first external drive connected the first character that is next in the drive (ie)
If you have C,D: 2 external hard drives A,B
When you connect A first it will be assigned the letter F, then connect B which will be assigned the letter G.
But the connecting B first then it will be assigned the letter F, and A as G.
Thanks. I’ll look into that. Not sure how to rename though. I’ll read up on HUBs and provide feedback. I’ll hold out on labeling this ‘solved’ though.
PS – I have two CD/DVD drives.
