Ethernet cable type question

I’m getting a network switch and some long Ethernet cable to extend connection over 100ft. Will patch cable work from router-to-switch and switch-to-PC?
My router is NETGEAR N450-100NAS
Kinda sceptical about patch cable since it didn’t work for me at 25ft length connecting from an older router-to-PC once.

Cat 6 or 5e cable should work unless maybe your equipment is weak..
Good network cable should work up to 100 meters.
