error – the user profile service failed the logon

hi, friends laptop which runs windows 7 came up with this message which stops her logging in.
i tried creating a new account in safe mode which didnt work, I can’t restore to a previous setting as she never created one and cant fix the profile.
so any ideas anyone?

thanks for the reply, it isnt a company latop shes owned it for a few years.
thanks for the link ive already tried the first two suggested on the site, but will give the last option a go and see how i get on

Have you activated the hidden “Administrator” account? you need to be able to run the command line–>”cmd” of windows and type then this: net user Administrator /activate:yes
the reboot the computer in “safe mode” and log through the Administrator account to create new accounts.
EDIT: this process has been successfully tried on WinXP and Vista ! i’m not sure about Windows 7 :/
