Encrypted files, what do I do?
January 15th, 2014
Here is the thing, I have a laptop that ran Windows XP.
I copied all my files to a Disk On Key device (some documents and tunes), and formatted the laptop and installed Windows 7.
Now when I plug the DOK in, I see all the files are painted GREEN and are not accessible, I get access denied.
How can I solve this? I really need those files.
Thanks in advance !
It’s really beyond me how you enabled encryption unknowingly,Back on topic,You’d have to use Advanced EFS Data Recovery Pro
but you must remember your previous windows user name and password,If you don’t remember the password,It’s hopeless.
Hey thanks for the quick answer.
I installed the Advanced EFS Data Recovery PRO, and I’ve clicked on Add user password… and added the u\p.
but when I go to Scan for encrypted files… I get “There are no encryption keys found yet…”
maybe I’m typing the username wrong?
When I scan for files, I see: MYUSER@LENOVO-A407C256(MYUSER)
What should I type as username?
You need to browse to em:

As said^,It has to be the same username+password used on the previous OS install (before you formatted).
