Dummy website hits / visits

Hi all, this is my first helpdesk request but i’ve been an avid BB member for some time so I hope you guys can help me out on this one.
I am in the process of finishing a new site and need to load test it to see whether it will stand up to thousands of hits in a few hours but am not sure how to go about this, can you help?
What would also be cool is if I could regularly drive fake traffic to 1 page in particular although i’m sure this isn’t technically allowed! Anyone aware of any software or process that could help in doing this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated… BB is the best forum on the net

the “Low Orbit Ion Cannon” could be useful (be careful you dont accidently DoS yourself. dont know where to get it tho, you may be able to find it on google
