Disk read error

While starting a computer (logging in) I have a error that is A Disk read error Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.
Please help me

Check HDD Cable. go Bios select 1st boot device HDD, try it, this is 1st method.

Yes, the cable from the hard drive to the motherboard.Try reseating it at both ends. and make sure the power cable is plugged in tightly.

Try reinstalling your OS and use the backups that you have undoubtedly created

When windows does boot up do this
Start > Run > cmd > CHKDSK /f > Press enter > Select Y > Re-boot.

can you tell if the drive is spinning ?
the drive making any strange sounds ?
got another PC to try the drive in ?
get Hiren’s BootCD and boot to MiniXP and see if the drive is readable
