Difference in installing xp on IDE and Sata drive

August 1st, 2016

Now i’m going to get a new hard drive. I have two Ide Hard disks in my pc and am going to remove one and put a sata drive. Now what’s the difference in installing Xp on a Sata drive compared to an IDE drive. Is it the same???
Also which drive should i use as the start up and primary drive the IDE or Sata one?

Well, when it comes to installing Windows on a SATA driver you might need to install third party drivers for the HDD to be recognized. You’d just need to press F6 at the begining of the setup and install third party drivers that should be on your Mother Board CD. That is as far as I know the only difference you would see aside from a faster windows installation. Good luck mate^^

EDIT: never mind i understand now. So i have sata connectors on my motherboard so i don’t need those PCI sata cards. SO i just set it up normally except with the motherboard sata drivers.
