Delete Eset

August 6th, 2016

Trying to get rid of eset and reinstall it because something screwed up with my last version and the firewall broke …
Anyway, i tried to uninstall it like usual using You Uninstaller. Now what has happened is that the ESET folder in Program Files is totally locked. I cannot delete it by any means. Have tried using things like Killbox, setting permissions etc.
Now I see that the ekrn.exe process is running. I have tried many ways to end that aswell, but it is always “Accessed Denied”. Have tried to end the service with the same result. Then I tried to chnage the service startup to “disable” still accessed denied.
All this after I tried to uninstall it. It will not let me install a new version since the files needed to be written are already there and undeleatable even to eset installer….
Please help me.

All you need to do is, Install Unlocker v1.8.7 :

When trying to delete a file and it gives you “Access denied” or whatever, Unlocker kills the process and you get to delete the file.
Good luck!

Doesn’t work. It’s a smiliar program to Killbox, which also doesn’t work
Have also tried Lock Hunter, which (yep) also can’t do it!

How do I manually uninstall my ESET Smart Security 3.0 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0?
KB Solutions ID: SOLN558|Last Revised: May 12, 2009
To remove an ESET Smart Security 3.0 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0 from your computer, first attempt to use the Windows uninstaller: click Start → Programs → ESET → Uninstall and then proceed directly to step 6. If the Windows uninstaller fails, the ESET components must be removed manually by following steps 1-6.
Warning: The manual removal steps below involve working with important system files in the Windows Registry. Please proceed only if you are an experienced user:
1. Restart your computer. During startup, continually press the F8 key until the Windows Advanced Options Menu is displayed. Select Safe Mode and press ENTER.
2. After restarting, click Start → Run, type regedit and click OK.
3. Find and delete the following registry keys:
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESET
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ESET
4. Find and delete the following registry value:
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\egui
5. Click Start → Control Panel → Folder Options → View tab → select Show hidden files and folders.
Vista Users: click Start → Control Panel → Appearance and Personalizaton → Folder Options → View tab → Show hidden files and folders.
6.
Navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\inf folder and delete the INFCACHE.1 file.
7.
Restart the computer. Once the computer has restarted, delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\ESET
Vista Users must delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Program Data\ESET
8.
You can now download and reinstall the product.
NOTE: To download, you will need the username and password that were provided when you purchased your ESET product. If you do not know your username or password, please click here.
