Decent Graphics Card Needed

August 5th, 2016

Im looking for a decent graphics card that can run ultra performance games, got a budget of £100.
So needing something top notch, I spent £66 on an ATI Radeon 6780 last year which was amazing, played everything. But now its 2014 and things have changed, games have been updated and needing something on todays market.
Thanks guys.

£100? good luck with that.

Depends on your screen size, if you have a smaller resolution screen, like 1280×1024 or 1440×900, it will be a lot easier than with a 1920×1080 screen. I am using a 19″ 1440×900 screen which is perfect and then for sure eveything runs super smooth. Don’t want to get a 1920×1080 screen, even though I have GTX970
For 100 I think you could get a GTX750. Will be rather nice.

Define ultra performance… With that budget…bro you’re not going to run games on ultra or Max or high maybe medium depending on your resolution and the monitor size. Like you said it’s 2014. It’s not cheap like a used be in 2000.
High Budget = top-notch = max/ultra performance.

And there’s more choices.
Given that my desktop 570ti and an i7 2600 plays modern games perfectly well.. I think a 750/850 will do reasonably well.
Answer #6
apart from the 560ti all of those are 1gig.. cannot recommend purely for that reason alone…
if you are in the uk and have an extra 40 bucks… http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/gigabyte-nvidia-gtx770-2gb-memory-graphics-card-/291291264905?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item43d24ff789
770 is basically a 680 overclocked to hell (that you can overclock some more).. 140 is annoying since last year I paid £360 or so for the 4gig version of that card
Edit: I cannot see a 670 for that price, never mind 680 hehe.. crazy.. must be dodgy ?
.. £5 cheaper..

sorry for the ebay links.. its just the natural place to look at this time of year hehe..nvidia has made last years cards worthless

Yeah – I just did a quick Amazon search for gpu under £100.
He can search better and refine his search.
I also suggest saving another week or two and adding £50 to that amount – £150 for a gpu opens up doors.

Its pretty good choice but he is asking to play on ultra which is maxed out. 1GB wont max out new games and in no way an budget like that could. If he go Medium/Low with not-so-high resolution. He could get playable fps. Of course it also depend on his other spec to. If its old it aint happening.
Like said. Save up. If you cant for weeks then save up for a few more months. Games are just going up in spec. Buy now with that kind of money. Youll be upgrading again in a few months

That’s the thing – £100 is never going to give someone max spec.. maybe at 800 x 600.. !
Seriously, unless you’re spending £250 or more, don’t expect “max spec ultra”..
BUT – Decent frame rates at medium to medium-high setting is do-able.
I can play Crysis 2 and 3 on high on a laptop with a 870m GPU.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-660-Ti
the 660TI IMO is one of the all time greats. it’s a lot better than the 750TI.
you can buy them cheap. I paid £125 for mine and that was new from Ebay.
I really wouldn’t get the 750TI.
Answer #15
well , since i was going to buy a new gpu , i did quite hell of a search about gpu recently enough to get a bachelor degree there is no gpu like you wanted as many said. “Im looking for a decent graphics card that can run ultra performance games” , there was never such a card and never will be in a world where the money rules. if decent cards would run at ultra what are high end cards for ? if u mean ultra for latest blockbuster games where smooth gaming is 30+ fps , you wont be able to buy a gpu even for 200 euros unless u find a very special discount. the best gpu chip in terms of price performance at the range you are looking for is r9 270x , since new nvidia gpu came out , their price decreased . none of the cards mentioned above have better price/performance ratio , look for either sapphire’s toxic version of r9 270x or asus direct cu TOP version where you have 2 options either 2 gb or 4 gb , if any of them fits your budget it is your best bet. otherwise u should save your money like many other’s said to prevent yourself buying a new gpu every 6 months or 1 year
Answer #16
then he can go for the 660ti i wont argue about it but in my honest opinion if he wants a really good gaming card he needs to invest a little more like 200 bucks at least buy the damn 970 gtx will be for years… 660ti will be for what.. another year… not even
Answer #17
for 150 euro in dollars i imagine thats less like 90 or so
Ill take dollars meaning USD. Euro has more value than usd.
