Does your CPU and RAM get identified correctly by the Bios?
Answer #2
CPU temperatures probably
Also disconnect your DVD drive and see it still occurs. P5Q’s hate IDE drives of all types
Answer #3
yeah it gets identified correctly and my temps are pretty cool about low 30 graphics card around 41
Answer #4
in what order did you install your drivers?
Driver installation should follow the order of:

    Chipset INF
    DX9/10
    All other drivers
    Then Video

Answer #5
umm chipset idk, dirext x idk all other drivers yeah and video yeah
Answer #6
Lilg,
What OS are you running? Go to this site http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-028823.htm
and download the p43 express chipset drivers. uninstall your video drivers and reboot. hit cancel when the system says it detected new hardware, install the file you just downloaded, reboot then reinstall the video driver. that may clear up your issue.
for future reference, here is the official driver installation order from intel.

Some motherboards come with outdated BIOS. For some of those motherboards, you have to update the BIOS for the extra cores to be used properly. That could be the problem here – an outdated BIOS that was supposed to be update but wasn’t.
Answer #8
Good thinking DGray, I forgot about that one.
Answer #9

It should be the same file for both but grab the one for the p45, the board I was looking at on Asus’ site said it was a P43 chipset, sorry about that. Use the Asus update utility off the motherboard CD for the bios, you can do the update within windows then reboot.
Answer #11

Answer #13
I know of a similar problem a member called .:matie:. had which I helped him out with. What fixed it for him was updating the BIOS and buying a SATA DVDRW drive.

Updating your BIOS will most likely allow the system to properly use all four cores of your processor. It’s well worth updating your BIOS. Even if it doesn’t help, which I doubt will happen since an outdated BIOS is the problem is most cases such as these, it’s good for the system to have the latest BIOS version for multiple other reasons.
At other pace, update your BIOS and see if it helps.

Answer #22
I wouldn’t give any advice about updating the Bios in windows as I have a few disasters in the past…
Answer #23
well how do i update them then??? no one is explaining it to me
Answer #24
you have the “DOS” tool, for non windows command line updating
check asus’s web site for the windows utility which runs from the desktop
follow the “how to update bios” link I think
if you still have the mobo CD it may be on there
or if there’s a F* key during post (like F8 to flash bios) put the new bios into a folder in the root directory so it’s EZ to find (name it bios or something less than 8 letters) and try it that way
