Computer Issue

Unplug everything > Take the side off > There will be green RAM chips (Google if you don’t know what these look like), press the white tabs on either side of them to pop them out > There will also be a battery similar to a nickel-sized watch battery, take it out and put it back in > Plug PC in > turn it on… Does it beep? If yes, that means your motherboard is probably OK. If no, your motherboard is possibly toast. > Either way, Put the RAM back in > Try powering on again… If nothing else, try contacting HP chat support to see if they can walk you through some computer-specific things.

are them techs always right?
no
but in this case they may be
the slimline uses a special size PSU like these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=-1&IsNodeId=1&Description=slimline%20psu&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20
if you can get any PSU it might work to test the PC
it just may not fit in the case

anyone of the will work?
they should if they are the same or higher watts (300W or whatever, check your current one, on the label)
Didnt work either, guess it the motherboard?
guess it the motherboard?
if everything else checks out as good, the mobo is the only thing left
the slimline PSU work on another PC ?
that’s about the only test left

Not necessarily,There are other possibilities,But first I’d like to point out that when
hooking up a new PSU,You have to plug-in the 4PIN connector near the CPU socket too,Otherwise it won’t
post at all and you’ll only get a black screen.Anyways,You should try the following:
1. Resetting the BIOS – This has to be done with the power cord removed to be effective
Remove the round battery from the motherboard (just push a small flat screwdriver on the clip
that’s holding it in-place and it’d pop out),Leave it out for at least 10 minutes then
put it back in (with the + sign on top),If it worked,Enter BIOS and load defaults.
2. Checking for bad RAM,Odds are that you have at least 2 sticks,Try each one standalone (as in with the other
one removed),A single bad stick can certainly cause this problem. (Note: When doing this,Don’t leave any of
the clips opened on the empty slots)
