August 5th, 2016

hey guys, i have windows vista 64 bit, and i need to reinstall the OS. however, i have had call of duty modern warfare 2 for a while, and i cannot afford to lose everything that i have achieved on multiplayer, i played for days!!
is there anyway i can reinstall the os, save this data and continue from where i left off?? i have codmw2 linked to steam, if that helps.
thanks in advance

Saves are indeed located in the game subfolder. You’ll find them here (assuming you have a default installation):
C:/program files/Activision/Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/players/profiles/Snipe/save
or
C:\Users\nameofuser\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare
So, go into Profiles and then whatever your game name is, then into Save.
copy the saves into a pendrive or an external hard disk. when you reinstall windows and call of duty put the saves in the same folder

thanks for the reply, but i have call of duty modern warfare 2, so there is no activision folder, it is all under steam.. actually i think i found it. is this the right one?
Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > call of duty modern warfare 2 > players
and then it comes up with a lot of STAT files, and a folder called ‘save’, which has two folders in that called autosave and internal.
is this the right one??[/img]
Answer #3
yes.. copy all ‘players’ folder (and subfolders) to the pen drive, so when you copy it to the new installation folder you have also your profile.
Answer #4
ok thanks, i also noticed on steam, you can back up a game.. will this save the profiles?
Answer #5
yeah, all profile’s data are stored in that folder…
