If it is to watch on a computer, then yes that is fine.
If it is to watch on a DVD Player, you must check to see if the DVD Player supports the format.
If you reply with the Make and Model Number, I can try and have a look.

DVD-R is the most compatible version of burnable DVD. If anything, you’d have trouble with a +R, not a -R.

i agree with , but i don’t see point in burning dvd-r in 2007 (soon 2008) when all players support dvd+r for years and dvd+r has better specifications (better error control), only reason why to burn today dvd-r and not dvd+r is nostalgy (and maybe better price but usually you can choose both formats for same price)
