Can game trainers only work with cracked games?

Can game trainers work with games that I have bought on steam? I wish to use a trainer for FEAR 3. I tried downloading a trainer from online but it didn’t work for me. How do you properly use one?

try reading the .nfo or .txt file with that trainer

usually they will, but steam might detect it has a hack so i personally wouldn’t try it.

if you want, just make a copy of the game
crack it and just play single player using a trainer cracked.
while you play MP through steam

just make sure which version you have and grab the correct one from here.
