Camera to Windows Transfer

August 4th, 2016

I have a situation where a user takes pictures with their digital camera and then connects the camera to the PC (Windows 7). However, this picky user does not want the pictures to be automatically transferred to “Libraries/Pictures.” How do i change the default folder so every time he transfers his pics to his PC it goes to the newly defined folder (or a specific folder chosen by the user)?

Do one of the following:
Connect a camera to your computer by using the camera’s USB cable, and then turn on the camera.
Connect a portable device that contains pictures or videos to your computer by using the device’s USB cable, and then turn on the device.
Insert a removable flash memory card, such as a Secure Digital (SD) or CompactFlash memory card into a memory card reader.
Connect a scanner to your computer by using a USB cable, and then turn on the scanner.
Insert a data CD or DVD that contains pictures or videos into your CD/DVD drive.
In the AutoPlay dialog box that appears, click Import pictures and videos using Windows.
To change the settings that are used when importing pictures and videos, click Import settings in the Import Pictures and Videos dialog box.
Change one or more settings in the Import Settings dialog box, and then click OK.
Click OK to restart Import Pictures and Videos. Type a tag in the Tag these pictures (optional) box, and then click Import to import your pictures and videos using the new settings.

Personally, I just plug in the USB cable and transfer pictures manually using my explorer (Speed Commander) cut and paste. You can use Windows Explorer to do the same thing.
You can change where they go ………….
Right click on folder (e.g Pictures) /Properties/Location

I don’t know what software you are using, but I thought it would have an option as where to copy to..
Like SaturnSid, I would just display the camera as a drive in Windows Explorer, then you can drag and drop or copy and paste the photos where you wish

Ahhh the old days…
lolz,
Tell him to keep up with the times and buy a wifi flash card, no wires necessary. Toshiba FlashAir are pretty good
Back to the old days, like Sid & have said, just open the folder named DCIM on the cameras flash card and copy/paste – drag/drop the images to wherever. What make/model of camera is it, most have their own software that will import images to wherever you want ?
ps – make sure the images are always backed up.
