Call of Duty Black Ops Sets Progress Back

January 18th, 2014

I was on that helicopter mission where you fly up some river to track down Kravchenko. And, as almost usual, in after my 3rd failed attempt the screen went black, the game did not resume from the last checkpoint so I had to ctrl-alt-del my way out of the game.
So when I open it today, the Resume Game option takes to the start of S.O.G. mission wich is HELL OF A WAY BACK in the game.
I’ve seen I got the savegames in the player/save folder but the game refuses to load them.
Is there a way to enforce it ?
Thanks.

Solved.
Thanks to a very wise advice on marking the .cfg file as Read-only after editing attributes in it, I’m guessing that the game could not write the record of progress and which save file to look for when resume is requested later on.
I have found out that in config.cfg file that very same mission back in ages is set as the “last” one to load, hence whole progress being prevented.
I have edited that line to direct to the latest save file I have in hand and the issue is gone.
