Bootcamp problem

March 1st, 2014

Hey all,
I’m having a really frustrating problem and I can’t find the solution ANYWHERE! (I really mean anywhere; google didn’t help this time)
So here’s the deal:
I formatted and reinstalled os x snow leopard on my imac yesterday and today I’ve tried to install bootcamp with windows 7…
So, I’ve made the partition, I click install my mac restarts as it should and then I get a black screen “No bootable device — insert boot disk and press any key”.
This is what I HAVE tried already:
Deleting my partition with bootcamp and creating a new one, didn’t work
Rebooting, holding the alt/option key so I can select the disk to boot from, doesn’t work…
So please, pleeeeaaasssssseeee help me out here?
Thanks in advance!
Grtz,
Joriz2

Hi,
Yeh, I had this EXACT same problem, mine happened because I have some app in my mac side which gives me the option to boot in windows rather than having to restart and hold alt (I’m lazy XD), and when I selected that option, it booted up and said “No bootable device — insert boot disk and press any key”.
I fixed my problem by booting from a windows disc, but instead of doing it the mac way, I did it the windows way by pushing F8.
Hope this helps.

It sounds like it might be a problem with the ISO of windows you are trying to use. Normally, after creating the partition, it asks you to insert your Windows install disc, and then it will automatically restart into it for you. However, since this doesn’t seem to be happening, it might be a problem with your disc.

So… if I get this right I should just reboot and hold F8 while my windows dvd/cd is inserted?

Actually, this has worked before too. Try this first.

Nope doesn’t do the trick
I start the bootcamp assistent, follow the steps, reboot, pressing f8 while I’m getting a white screen and the mac-sound (boooooommmmm) and the next thing my screen turns black “no bootable blabla you know the rest ”
Aaarrrgghhh

So, let me ask you: are you using a cracked ISO of windows, or a legit installer CD?
Answer #7
I’m currently using a selfburned iso one at a 2x speed, the other at 8x none of them work and I’m hoping to find a genuine xp cd around here somewhere but my hopes aren’t high…
You reckn I need a genuine cd/dvd?

No, because I installed my Windows 7 partition off of a cracked ISO…
That’s strange…have you tried a different version of it? It might be the copy you downloaded.
