Audacity and windows 7

My pc can play music without a problem but wont record, this error message comes up.

check the input volume channel. make sure it is active, it is the right input channel (the one where you insert the jack) and it is correctly configured into audacity.

There are MANY excellent freeware programs which in no way could be described as rubbish.
Audacity is Free Software not Freeware. It comes under the GPL license which means it is constantly being improved by volunteers from all over the world just like Linux is.

You can always use the windows recorder . You will have to set up your mixer settings properly to do so . (stereo mix enabled only)

Compared to Audition it is absolute rubbish in fact that doesn’t go far enough Compared to Audition its shit, Releasing the source code dosnt magically make a shit program good. Its in OP’s best interests to get rid of this rubbish freeware and install Audition;
