ADSL Router Modem for Desktop and Laptop.

Lately my brother brought a HP laptop and he wants to share my internet connection at home. Laptops have WiFi capability and only one wired router (like the one I have) can be connected on one phone line. So I am going to buy a wireless ADSL router now, make a wired Ethernet connection to desktop and WiFi to laptop. But not sure which one of these should I go for..

Primary objective is to be able to use my single internet connection on both desktop and laptop at the same time.

I was going to go for the first one too, but in product specs tab on the website, they have this chart and there is no tick for “Simultaneous downloads..” under simple sharing N150. What does that mean, if my desktop is downloading something, then laptop won’t be able to connect to websites.. !?

If you already have a working ADSL2+ modem, then you can simply add on a wireless router rather than a wireless router with an integrated modem
As for “simultaneous downloads”, not quite sure what they mean exactly but downloading from multiple machines shouldn’t be a problem cause that’s what routers are there for! I can see how it’s confusing though…

I think they’re referring to the wireless standard(in this case 802.11n) when they’re talking about “simultaneous downloads” because i found this:

So taking IBall for example, you are saying iB-WRX150N instead of iB-WRA150N. The price does go down by about 1/3rd, but it will mean running two boxes (wired-wireless, they all look same) and if in future something goes wrong with one, the other will be useless. Correct me if wrong, but paying a bit extra seems to be a better choice !

So if I make one wired and one wireless connection, there definitely won’t be any problem. I am still confused, what exactly is the difference between Netgear DGN1000 and DGN2200, perhaps I should go for IBall, they have only one product in that category Wireless range wise, The iB-WRA150N would be best (5DBI Antenna)
Looking at the product specs (almost similar to WRX specs) on their website, can somebody guess if they have the simultaneous download thingy included ?

Thanks for your help guys, will see what they have at the store and box cover info, mostly going to go for IBall iB-WRA150N or Netgear DGN1000.
It would really depend on the wireless card in the Laptop, and whatever else you may wish to connect wirelessly (eg. iPhones, Android phone, tablets etc), as to which router to buy.
If you would be willing to spend an extra bit if your wireless card in the laptop is a/b/g to upgrade it to N300 or even N450 dual band capable one eg Intel 6300 (about �15-20 in UK), then your best decision would be to get a N300 or N450 dual band capable router, and put your existing equipment into bridge mode.
