AC3 & DTS Directshow Decoder

August 9th, 2013

Im trying to find one that actually works for ProMedia Carbon I have had some success with AC3 but absolutely none for DTS.
Ive tried AC3 Filter (cant import DTS auto detection of ac3 channels fails always reverts to 2.0)
ArcSoft TotalMedia codecs (No DTS only 2.0 AC3)
Sonic CinePlayer HD DVD Decoder (No DTS only 2.0 AC3 crashes upon use)
Ive tried just installing the filters on a fresh install in a vm with the same rusult (no DTS so i can eliminate carbon being the cause)
The only thing i can think of is that my audio settings are causing the decoders to force 2.0

ProCoder does not support DTS, it’s format guide pdf does not list it.
I suggest that you try ffdshow tryouts
Ignore the modified date because the folders have far more recent builds although you will need to look through them.

The other thing could be x86/x64 and mixing them. You don’t mention what OS you are using. You need to match the windows version for the codec with the app.

Possibly, how is your audio output setup? It’s just one of the problems created by directshow when encoding. Nothing serious should use it IMO because it’s too hit and miss.
You shouldn’t have a problem with ffdshow if you change the output channels in the ffdshow audio setting. Make sure you set the decoding formats while in the settings.

Its directshow based as long as i can get the file to play in directshow players it will support it they say this in the faq

It shouldn’t really be asking for audio channel output to begin with thats ment to be handled by the os.

edit
Ah that seems to be working perfectly i just installed ffdshow 64 > disabled everything bar the AC3/DTS > Selected “disable mixer” > imported a DTS and its listed as 6 channel with “Canopus audio decoder” .
Thanks for the help ive been trying to figure this one out for ages.
