A question before purchasing LCD monitor..

Similarly, I want to keep the resolution in the LCD monitor, higher than it’s recommended resolution of 1920 X 1200.. would that harm the monitor or would there be any other problem, doing so?

well, to my knowledge you cant damage a monitor by putting the reso up high as monitors will only display resolutions which they can use. However if u tried running the beast 24″ at say 640×480 then after a while it could do some damage, running a monitor at too low a resolution can screw it up.
The recommended resolution is the monitors max resolution. You cant set it any higher. Ive never heard of a monitor being damaged by low resolution and theres no reason to think that it would. Also 1280×1024 is standard for a 17″ monitor so if you think the icons are tiny on that…

I don’t think you can set the resol
ution higher than the max resolution :p
It will just show a black screen I guess and revert back to the previous in 15 seconds
i don’t think that you can do it either… your gfx card can show the unsupported resolutions but you won’t be able to select them.

I am using LG 700E..
…to quote from the specifications:
“Max Resolution : 1280 x 1024 / 66 Hz
Recomend Resolution : 1024 x 768 / 85 Hz”

I could not find this model on LG’s website.. but there was LG 700S, whose specification also states:
“Resolution
RecommendedVESA 1024 x 768@85Hz
MaxVESA 1280 x 1024@60Hz”
