A Guy Offer me a Nikon D3100 for 300 bucks.

May 4th, 2019

Apparently his father got into a motor accident and didn’t make it and he is trying to auction out his father equipments. He doesn’t know much about the camera so decided to go to his local pawn shop to verify it.

The local pawn shop offer him 250 but he thought that was really low for it. I know this camera can at least be sold for 400-500 and top 600 for brand new.
what do you think? should I take the offer? 300 dollars?

Answer #1
It’s not a high end camera, and only 14.2 MP, $250-$300 sounds about right (with the accesories show in the photo)
I live in the UK and could get similar for about the same price.
Answer #2
Based on what they finish on Ebay (300-350), No I wouldn’t. The shop actually offered him a good value he should have taken it. If you think you are going to use it then yeah buy it, plus get yourself a nice lens. But if you are trying to flog it for a quick buck, you are in for disappointment.
Answer #3
I haven’t seen a single D3100 finish under 500, maybe when it’s in Pesos it’s 500, but not USD. 300 Is a steal.

Answer #5
Those are in Euros and Pounds which are all worth the equivalent of 400$ USD – and are without the lenses!
Answer #6
The D3100 currently (now at time of posting) retails in Euro for around 450 new (convert that to dollars).
I know – I bought one.
250/300 Dollars for a second-hand one sounds right for a good purchase.
If you were asked to pay anything higher, I’d be reluctant.
The D3100 is a good camera for beginners and medium users. Its a mark-up from the D3000.
I also don’t get people moaning that its only 14mb.
The human eye cannot detect changes between that or higher – in fact lower ranges spec in MB also cannot be detected.
I know professional photographers who use 5mb cameras for taking media usable work.
Its an excellent camera all-round and is a great solid piece of reliable kit to have in ones bag of other cameras if you have others.
