(3) cooler
(4) psu
would give the best results for the best price
……aka a cheapskate lol

Answer #1
SB-E rig + a custom water kit should do the trick. That will cost you around $3000-$4000 though.
May I ask why?
Answer #2
@ -paroxysM^ you know why
You should be able to get there of within a lick of 5 ghz with a corsair H100 cooler and i7 3930K setup.
You lost a ton of performance/£ or $ etc but still…beastly
Answer #3
I am guessing these parts should take care of what you need.
Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 (z68) or ASUS P9X79 PRO (x79)
CPU: i7-2700K (z68) or i7-3930K (x79)
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 (air) or CORSAIR H100 CWCH100 (liquid)
PSU: CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX750
You can pick up an SBE for about 2k, but thats a lot for a computer with no SSD, lol.

It’s a valid question. Folding or etc. It will help us to better identify parts.
corsair H100
SB-E’s temperature scales like a cliff face around 4.5GHz and up. The 25mm low fpi RAD on the H100 is a joke.
If the OP is actually serious I can pick up parts for a custom kit.

looking a future proof gameing rig to last me 5/6 years with that in mind u need alot of power as mines out of date now
setup
M2A-MX
amd x64 5200+ O’clocked @ 3.1 ghz
4 GB ddr2 @ 1066 mhz
Ati Radion 3870 x 2
600w PSU
just about cant handle games on best setings now
Answer #6
You don’t need a hexa-core processor at 5GHz 24/7 for gaming.
Answer #7
i know i dont need 1 for 24/7 just if i say that means it will be a stable OC
Answer #8
No. You don’t need a hexacore period. You’re a gamer. Those processors weren’t meant for you. But hey! it’s your money. Give us a budget and let us go crazy. 5GHz is achievable easily on SB. SB-E is a bit more difficult due to the high volts/temps/tdp.
Oh and you’re kidding yourself to have a rig that could last 6 years.

Just get an SBE, you will be fine…
Answer #10

The SBE processor alone cost £443 alone, you can’t afford it, lol.
On that budget, you need to get an i5-2500K.
-paroxysM^ replied: Why not make a new rig now and make a newer one in 9 months. Your logic fails. You can get a rig that plays pretty much any game at max at 1080p with that budget.
Yep this ^^
Pick up a 2500K for about £761.

Just want to put my 2 cents in this, i actually run a I7 2600k @ 5.0ghz 24/7 stable with temps at 35 idle/ 45 – 49 under load (can run up to about 55 depending on the tasking) vcore/voltage is at 1.405.. And the most important thing i run a megahalem cooler with 2 x silent viper fans on this beast.
Answer #15
Yeah but even a 2600K wouldn’t fit in his budget.
Answer #16
I would want a custom loop too but the H100 is capable and a good tool for the job of getting up to or close too the 5ghz point.
Couple guys using it on another forum i use and getting up there with acceptable temps.
example.
4.7 cooled via a H100 stable for 24/7 running prime to get those temps up to max..

EDIT: £500 …nevermind sandy-e

4.7 cooled via a H100 stable for 24/7 running prime to get those temps up to max.. That CPU must be special. Not all chips can go there at that voltage.

Yea, but that’s the $1,000 3960X processor, not the $600 3930K =/

3960X doesn’t automatically mean it’ll overclock better. The chances that it would are better though. I’ve seen most people at 1.5v for 5GHz on the 3960x. That’s a portable nuke. The H100 will cry and go run to it’s mommy.
Oh and 70 degrees is laughable on water.

Just a retail chip bought from scan by a normal punter, not cherry picked or anything.
Could be a lucky chip i guess, there are a couple guys with em and the H100.
I’ll ask.
Answer #21
i completely agree with paroxys you dont need a 5ghz + hexacore proccessor to play the latest games! an i5 2500k quad overclocked to 4.5ghz coupled with a good graphics card such as the nvidia 580x should handle almost any game out today. And you could not build a system that would still be at its peak 5-6years later! That would be physically impossible. I would reccomend what i said above with at least 4gb of ram but on that budget you might want to look at a 560x
Answer #22
i5-2500k
OC’d to 4.6Ghz and its stable.. runs everything fine..
Answer #23
Building a computer for 6 years is out of the question.
You would want to change computer, I don’t even know if the overclock will last that long.
