20gb ps3 has no 802.11 b/g what does this mean?

Since the PS3 Slim is backward compatible because you can buy PS2 games in the PSN Store I guess there is no reason for me to buy the old 60gb model ps3 in 2006. I’m buying the PS3 cause I want to play PS3 games and PS2 games.
But somehow if the PS3 Slim doesn’t have backward compatibility and I get the 20gb model from my friend what does it mean that “20gb ps3 has no 802.11 b/g?”
