trying to salvage an old laptop and pc

I have an old desktop system and laptop with a bust battery and was wondering how I can find out whether the laptops components would be compatable with the system. Apart from the RAM I really don’t think I would have a clue.
I have completely cleaned and reinstalled the OS on the tower but I am an absolute novice when it comes to hardware. Mainly I am not sure if a laptop RAM chip would be compatable with a regular motherboard. And what other parts of the laptop could be salvaged.

highly doubt anything will be compatible tbh.

PC and Laptop RAM sizes aren’t the same, the PC RAM is big and the Laptop RAM is small, but I’ll doubt that your laptop components will work on your PC

You can sell the components on eBay or second hand shop if you want to make a bit of money instead of chucking it in the bin
