Problems with MKV Files

August 5th, 2016

i been using KMplayer to play all my mkv files and recently i have bought a megashare account because more and more movies are not being available to a rapidshare user. i use Internet download manager to download the mkvs and 3 of those files just suddenly stop at points and i would have to start it over again which it still shuts out at those exact periods

Since you have a megashares premium account, you should be able to resume downloads from the stopped position using IDM. Right click on the download, and hit resume. Try to download only one file at a time, that might help.
Also, I’m not sure how megashare works, but does your acc have enough BW? or is it unlimited?

First of all, download and install K-Lite codec pack:

Then, use GOMPlayer to play the files. Does that help?

Bit confused here, is he having trouble downloading, or watching? I watch all my video’s with VLC or Media Player Classic(comes with KLite) Both are extremely light installs, and they start up instantly *on my PC atleast…*

OK so i notice alot of movies that i want are only available on megashares so i purchase a 1 year subscription of unlimited downloading and begin to download 5 1080p movies and 2 720p movies.
the next day once everything is done i play one movie file and at a certin point i believe it was 6 min and 45 seconds it will just suddenly stop, also if you skip that point around 40 min it skips to 49 minutes
their are similar problems in all the movie files
Answer #10
First of all, what are your hardware specifications?

Have you tried to re-download one of the movies? It could be a corrupted movie. I do that all the time for rar’d up movies. Download two archives, extract them, leaving damaged files. They play till the movie is corrupted. Then it just skips all the way to the end. In your case you might have a corrupted middle section.
First of all, what is your hardware specifications?
That might be an issue too.

it is not a hardware issue, im guessing your right the movie is corrupt but why would it be corrupt is it because im using Internet download manager and it downloads parts then combines it? thats what im thinking
Answer #14
You have not answered my question. Also, where did you download the movies from?
Answer #15
from here, i am using that gomplayer and it instead of just stopping like Windows media classic and KMplayer it just skips forwards and stuff. and i am going to try and redownload
Answer #16
sounds like a codec issue, my setup quick clean and easy
uninstall any codec pack you have installed download + install cccp codec pack
download + install xvid codec
play with mpc (media player classic)
if video stops/skips/etc
then its an issue with the file itslef, therefore restart/resume the download.
Answer #17
it is the files but why are they like that
Answer #18
It can be many reasons. Sometimes they just corrupt, I don’t exactly know why. When I download Rar’s for games (70+ links) I usually get 3-4 corrupted downloads. I just re-download them =P
If you tried re-downloading them, and its still corrupt, the upload is probably corrupted… find a different source.

I had this recurring problem..did a clean install of k-lite on the PC, clean install of almost every codec pack..I was getting the same problem for playing MKV files..it freezes at a certain point..I thought it was my computer at first since I wasn’t able to find anything that would point me to solve my problem..it seemed that only a few people was having the problem, I can’t say it’s the codec totally, maybe some apps installed that messes with it, i dunno..last thing I did was a clean install in VMWARE with XP and deepfreeze..first with every codec pack, same thing happened…lastly, I just installed VLC by video lan..then everything was fine…some guy said it was probably the splitter, dunno really coz they werent having the problem anyway, as long as the problem is gone..hell, i loved klite a lot but I dont want my pc to go nuts through hard reset everytime my pc freezes…
Hope this helps someone who’s having the same problem I did.
