Neeed Help With A “Acer Aspire One” Laptop.

September 27th, 2013

I am trying to fix a wireless network driver issue with my friends “Acer Aspire One” laptop, problem is there is something wrong with the wireless network diver, she is get no wifi what so ever.
I have pinpointed the issue, there appears to be something wrong with the network adapter, I looked for the network driver adapter which is called “Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2”, thing is her laptop cannot connect to the internet to receive this driver download which is available through Microsoft updates to fix her problem.
I also tried to use another computer to download this update an put it on a USB stick so I could place onto her computer an install it, but every time I tried to access this driver from another computer it registers as a installer.
I am looking to manually download this “Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2” driver, place it on a USB stick so I could install it on her laptop, does anyone know where I could get a manual download of this wifi driver?
Thanx in advance

I can’t answer your last question, but what is preventing you from plugging the laptop into the router/modem via Ethernet?

What does this even mean?
You download the driver, put on usb, copy to laptop, and install.

From the manufacture website!

I have been meaning to ask her that, but I assume she only has wifi functionality without no access to a hardline.
**EDIT**

I have to download the driver manually on my computer an put it on a USB stick, transfer it too her laptop an install it, I cannot find a website that offers this driver as a download.
Answer #4
Alright then. Could you please find the exact model # from her ? It should start with AO and then be followed with possibly a letter or two and about 5 digits.

Model: Acer-AOD255
Thing is, these notebooks come without a CD-Drive, which would make refreshing the CD drivers for the notebook a lot easier if it had a driver CD included.

Yeah, they are a bit of a hassle. I have one my self, and I’ve needed to use the Microsoft DVD-to-USB tool more than once, bit of a pain.
Now, can you right click the network icon in the system tray > open network and sharing centre > change adapter (on the left) and tell me if it mentions anything like Atheros/Intel/Ralink/Broadcom/Realtek.
Otherwise if not, could you go to the start menu, right click computer, properties, device manager, then expand the network adapters tree or let me know if there’s anything there with a ! next to it.

Last time I held the laptop in question was like 3 days ago when I was looking through it, now it’s back with it’s owner.
But I believe I tried changing the adapter like you have mentioned, I will be back at her lap later today an will provide more details on that.

I’ve been in the device manager already, that’s how I was able to determine that it was the wifi device that was the problem, because it displayed a !
I just need a source to the driver in question so I can install it manually on you notebook.

It’s a Netbook, the reason they don’t have an optical drive is so they can be smaller.
Easy solution, get a Zipad, stick in a SATA slimline burner and/or a 2.5″ hdd. I’ve got one with a Sony Optiarc burner and 1TB hdd (just source them seperately)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ziboo-ZIPAD1-Netbook-enclosure-included/dp/B002VJJO6E
Look on the bottom of the Netbook, and there should be a sticker with the model of the wi-fi card (it may be under the battery)
Then just get the drivers from Acer Support site, or direct from the wi-fi card manufacturer.

Copy it over on a USB drive, SD card whatever, and run it.

That would have been my next option, as far as finding the driver page for the netbook/notebook or whatever in question , I just don’t have the patience of reason sometimes when dealing with devices that belong to others, unless it’s mine.
That driver page is more than likely what I needed, thanx fr throwing that at me
will report back

Oook….. here is a update on this problem I am having with this netbook laptop, I used gilly’s driver page method, downloaded a few network ( wireless & LAN ) an I have had no success at restoring the internet.
I told the laptop owner to try the LAN line an still no internet?
I also tried my wire dish device on her laptop an I still can’t seem to connect to the internet on it, the networks are there it just appears that something is not permitting me to fully connect to them, I always get a message saying “This Network Has Limited Access”
I also noticed in “Network & Sharing” that no network device is being registered, it just says unknown.

I also come up short running the diagnostic tool, it states that
the service is not running, I do not know weather this is related too this wifi network connection problem?

I have turned off the security she is using (which is Mcafee Suite ) an yet still not internet.
I am certain that the problem lye’s souly with this “Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2” ! error reading.
Screenshot

I tried updating the driver an it states “this driver is the newest an the latest” after updating, I cannot connect to Microsoft updates to retrieve a fix of something for the driver or any other component that maybe limiting her internet access?
Only solution is obtaning this “Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2” driver software, manually installing it an see if this resolves her issues, but I see no sites on the net that allows you to obtain this single update without having to access Microsoft Updates?
Can someone help me out her

I did have a similar issue with an Acer laptop (Aspire 2920) running Vista when I stuck an Intel 5300 wi-fi card in it (the ISATAP Adapter issues in device manager ), but it would still connect to the net via wi-fi. The issue went away when I stuck Win 7 on it.

I guess I am getting no additional feed back on this driver problem I am experiencing, so I guess my only option is to reinstall Windows
Question……. how do I re-install windows 7 on this netbook, being it has no CD-Drive?
I am assuming it’s a light weight version of Windows 7, in fact the current version that’s installed is called Windows 7 Starter.
I would think that’s the proper O.S. to be installed on this netbook laptop with only 1GB of RAM.
Can I get some suggestions on re-installing the O.S. on this lap?
