Matroska File format :'(
September 23rd, 2013
I’m always wondering….How do you put that video file on dvd without having ~ Lovely ~ quality? How are all these people watching these movies (other then on the PC).
Please help !
ConvertX
Use freemake video convertor

Freemake tutorial how to burn dvd

Both you posted different programs. Thank you.
question: Have you tried them before for converting mkv files? how’s the quality afterwards?
Converting from one format to another never yields 1:1 results–there will always be a loss of quality.
If you’re that concerned, buy a media player.
In the past the video converters i’ve used left the quality worthless, that’s why i’m concerned before I use another :/

Some Blu Ray players recognize MKV files directly without any conversion. My Samsung BD-C5500 does, so THANKS to the uploaders.
TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.0.12.42
Produces the best quality.
ConvertXtoDVD and Freemake Video Converter both gave me horrible quality compared to TMPGEnc. But you be the judge, try them all out and decide for yourself.
Some TVs, especially newer Samsungs, can also play mkv direct from USB..
Converting to DVD is OK, but remember that HD (720 or 1080p) is not part of the DVD standard.
So if you go from a HD mkv to a DVD the resolution will drop….The quality though, can still be near that of a retail DVD.
