Moped help needed!

hi,
i really need your help on this, i was working on my moped (a speedfight 2) when a peice of metal fell into my fuel tank. What i really need to know is do i need to get it out or will it be alright and not blow up my engine?????

depends on how big/what form it is. if it can’t get into the fuel-line or block it off in any way there’s no need to remove it. if you’re not sure or you just want to play safe get it out.

well its aoround 45 – 50mm long and around 7 – 10mm wide, is that big enough to do anything bad? Also how would i get it out????

Fasten a magnet to a close hanger and fish it out,be sure you fasten the mag securely or you will be fishing 2 things out

ok but wont the petrol corrode the tape?

Use some fine copper wire,and make a small hook on the end of the clothes hanger,place mag setting in hook and wrap with wire .
You can pick a factory model up at your local auto parts store.

guys its plastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! srry its plastic coated to look like metal so a magnet wont work:( what else can i do?

Turn the moped upside down and pour out all the petrol and the plastic bit along with it

it could desolve in petrol depending what plastic it is, and gum up the carb jets I would remove the tank to get it out

if it’s plastic there might be more problems since some plastics de solve in fuel. I’d suggest you empty your tank, if you can get it off then do so & try shaking it out. if you can’t get it out try to get some long grip fangs (like the ones you use for bbq’ing but a bit smaller) & try fishing it out. that’s all it can think off.

okay i have got it out now, i did it by attaching two pliers together and lifting it slowly out
