Codec management application

A short request; I’m after an application to simply manage what media type (mostly FourCC codes, but also for types like MP3 if possible) decodes with what codec. For example, if I have four-or-so codecs capable of decoding DivX and I want to be able to choose.
I’m sure such a thing must exist – any hints?

zoom player allows you to choose in filter mgt
but with ffdshow installed I hardly ever change it any more
