PSP 2.81 Downgrading?

January 22nd, 2020

So I got my PSP as expected, and unfortunately it is a 2.81, apparently I need Vice City Stories for the exploit, but those guides were made a long time ago, so maybe it’s possible to downgrade the firmware normally now. Anyone know?
I’m really desperate, so any help is good help!
Merry Christmas btw!

If you have a PSP 2.8 and under you can use other downgraders that don’t need GTA
2.81 requires you to have a unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories.
The unpatched version of the game contains the 2.0 update, so if higher you need to find another

It’s possible to downgrade with GTA on 2.81. It’s possible to downgrade with Lumines (Any version, there are none that are patched, as long as its the first Lumines, and not Lumines 2) from 2.80 all the way up to 3.5x. I recommend the Lumines method, seeing as it worked for me, and it’s much easier to find than an unpatched GTA. It’s one of the earliest PSP releases, so it costs next to nothing.

Yes, I read about Lumines too. I wish there was some way to use ISOs without going out and buying a crappy game- I’ll have to wait until boxing day =P. But thanks guys, looks like Lumines is the way to go.

If this is real, how come no one but you has talked about it? It will just brick my PSP, I know it Sorry, I’m just really cautious about this!
Please, use the EDIT button instead of double posting!

is right..Lumines will do the job too…

caution is good, but it worked for me on 3.0e (something like that) and it supports other firmwares, possibly yours. basically it asks you want you want, then downloads the needed firmwares, then you install it from the psp menu, follow the prompts, reboot, job done. it does work, read up on it to see if your version is supported.
any why no one talks about it, i have no idea but see it posted in the console secton every few days

E would already be custom firmware? That explains it.
Answer #9
You got a lite PSP ? Because if you have some of the old methods won’t work for yours.
Answer #10
No, it’s a phat, but being 2.81 makes it just as difficult anyway.
Answer #11
why are you 2.81? Latest is 3.40, but I use OE-C 3.40 I belive its called allows homebrew and isos and the ability to play the latest games.

Because it was refurbished and shipped with 2.81. Upgrading it would just make things harder to customise. We know all about custom firmware, but you can’t get it onto a PSP like mine without doing some additional things.
