Jailbreaking also opens the phone for other sim cards?

When you jailbreak your iPhone, does it get opened to any sim card? Because I was about to buy it and then pay 100 dollars for getting it opened for any sim, when a friend told me this morning, that when you jail break, you dont have to pay those 100 bucks. And I’m planning on jailbreaking it anyways so
Nope, that process is called Unlocking and is different from Jailbreaking. Unlocking can also be done by the end user as is Jailbreaking, just that the application used is different.

jailbreak it with blackra1n then when you see blackrain as one of your apps open it up and you can download 3 diff apps (cydia/rock/snow) download snow it lets u unlock it for other sims..
