See – – MKV HD – DVD conversion? . . . Posted: Mon Dec 24, 2007 12:26 am There are not many softwares currently available to burn Mkv files directly to a DVD. . . Most require you to convert the Mkv to Avi (or Mpg, etc) – but you lose quality – before burning to a DVD
Try loading the entire MKV file into
. . . . . Amadis Video to DVD Creator Burn to a hard-disk folder
Maybe it will automatically make three-or-four VIDEO_TS folders to fit the onto the DVD’s. . . I have never tried such a big file in Amadis. . . . When I did a 4.4gb file, it took some three hours.
. . .When (and if) the VIDEO_TS folders are made, use another DVD burning software as Amadis is buggy
There is also a Amadis DVD Ripper, that seems to be able to handle Video files in a folder. . . Maybe it can split your big Mkv file

Just use something like HJSplit to cut it up so you can burn it to DVD. The parts will not be playable until they are joined though.
Alternatively AVIMux-GUI can split the MKV file into parts of whatever size you choose. It’s on the General output tab. I had not tried it before but I just have and it works well. The parts play fine and subtitles are retained and work perfectly.
