BoA Overdraft Fee refund?
August 13th, 2013
I tried to ask for a courtesy refund, they denied me.
What happened is that I authorized 2 transactions from paypal directly from a bank with funds of 0.60 cents and 0.02 cents. 6 days later ( today ), I was charged 35$ each for them resulting me in a negative balance of -70.00. I’ve researched and heard that people HAVE gotten a few overdraft fees refunded. Did they threaten to close their banks? I rather attempt this situation if I have to.
Anyone ever got a refund from an overdraft fee
First, NEVER let Paypal debit your bank account. Always change the PAYMENT METHOD to the credit card you have registered.
Second, if you didn’t even have a single dollar in your checking account, you have bigger problems that this.
Third, yes, BofA will refund an overdraft charge, IF you have an established account with them and if you ask the right person. The drones who answer the customer-no-service 800 number are worthless. Go in person to the branch where you most often transact, see one of the desk people or preferably a manager, and ask nicely.
If nicely doesn’t work, file a complaint with the Controller of the Currency, the govt agent that oversees banks, here:

But, dude, in the end you are GUILTY AS CHARGED and you owe the fees in accordance with the contract YOU signed. Just because you screwed up doesn’t requite the bank to cut you slack.
