Laptop cant turn off the lights on it

I have a hp pavillion dv6700
and i want to turn off the lights on it the quick play lights and the power light
they are just annoying.

cover it with tape/post-it notes or unplug the ribbon cable from the mobo… but then you wont be able to turn it on.
