Fallout 3, should i apply the official patch?

Hi guys,
Ive been playing fallout 3 lately and i have all the hotfixes but still once in a while the game randomly crashes. Sometimes it crashes like 6 times in a row and then somehow magically fixes itself, its getting kind of annoying. I was wondering if i could apply the official patch 1.0.0.15? Would i need a crack to play?

just apply it, the crack will still work
