PhotoShop Cs2 effects help!

i am new to this program(PhotoShop Cs2), so can anyone tell me what effects are used in this picture so i can search for tutrials to know how do them..

to me, it looks like layer>new adjustment layer>b&w gradient>soft light to around 63% maybe? then layer>image>apply image>f then filter>sharpen>sharpen.
also looks like whoever did this image filter>blur>Gaussian blur, to around 0.3, and then erased the main guys (the people) and kept the background blurred.
