How to gain admin access on xp sp3 pro

I got a laptop from my school i cant do anything like insall programs mess with anything having to do with system 32 and stuff like that.
i i think i just have user rights. but when i check to see my acc type it says unknown so i dont know.
Ive tried the trick with the putting the time in cmd and it says it cant do it as i have insufficient privileges
Ive also tried the sticky keys trick where you replace cmd.exe with sethc.exe but i needed to replace files within system 32 and thats when i found out i couldnt
so plz help
i can reformat and use win 7 but only would as a last resort as this is not my computer

try using ophcrack for XP, search it up

well the things is the i wouldn know how to login as admin or if there is even an admin account as when it shows the welcome screen my account is the only one on there

oph crack is a bootable disc which you bot before the OS loads and it will find the password

It’s normal that you don’t see the Administrator account, it’s hidden from the Welcome screen. Normally, you press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the welcome screen to get the “classic” logon screen, where you could enter Administrator if you knew the password.
If you can boot using CD, Use HIREN’s BOOT CD. There is a tool called KONBOOT which lets you into windows as administrator without entering a password, then you can give yourself admin rights while you are in there.
