Rapidshare Manager and ESET firewall – something blocked

I have had this problem before and posted about it on here, however it has returned after using my initial fix.
when starting up RSM it gets stuck on the IE page to connect to the RS security layer. if i disable my firewall (ESET SMart Security) it will work and will start downloading.
if i enable my firewall again the downloads will get blocked, however if i start a new download it will be fine. i have had a look through my firewall permissions and have not been able to find anything which will block it.
has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it, or any suggestions on how to fix it.

ok, now it gets stranger. if i use the desktop shortcut this problem will occurr. but if i use the start menu shortcut there is no problem.
