Laptop nightmare
August 7th, 2016
My laptop (a Toshiba U400) started to act rather sluggishly so I took off most of the files and restored it to factory settings. On restart it failed to boot up and I had to take it to a repair shop.
On it’s return, I’m encountering quite a few problems. Gmail, Hotmail and Facebook won’t let me log in, stating that I’m entering the wrong password, however, I’m confident that all are correct. I can’t reset as I can’t access the accounts that new info is sent to! Also, right click button is failing to respond.
Gmail, after 24 hours, asked me some security questions but then refused to verify the account.
I’m somewhat confused and frustrated as I have a lot of addresses and personal info stored.
I’ll take it back to the shop on Monday but, in the interim, any help would be gratfully recieved.
Do your passwords have ” or @ in them?
Make sure your keyboard is set to UK and not US settings (a problem with the images on some of the larger laptop manufacturer pre-installed images)
you said your PC was slow… and now your passwords are incorrect according to login. sounds like a virus/keylogger to me.
only thing to do is to do (forgot password?) and see if you can get your info back.
– settings are correct. Thank you though.
– tried but each account was set to send defaults to the other…..if you see what I mean. Now that both are denying I’m a bit stuck. Glad to hear from you. You appear to be the doyen of this site!
yeah, i see what you mean. the only thing to do would be to create a new email with the email site you were registered to, and email their support and request your passwords be reset by them.
