How could I know what’s the maximum memory that my motherboard can handle? Any programs?

well Asus states that it can run 3 Dimms (sticks) maximum with 2GB DDR ram

But can I just place 1 2GB Ram stick on it? Or I need to place to 1 GB RAM sticks?

yeah 1 2gb stick will be fine as long as it meets the requirments above
