Help with .mkv files

It seems everytime I try to play an .mkv file either through my computer or ps3 the video tends to stutter a lot and really lag and certain points. I’ve tried windows media player and divx media player on my computer and both end up doing the same thing. Is there some type of setting that I need to change to make it run fluid? Thanks.

Try a decent player like PotPlayer.
It should work quite well out of the box.
Make sure that Preferences show “Built in DXVA decoder”.

Try potplayer or vlc or media player home cinema with the cccp codecs

i use vlc or media classic player these play any format.

VLC sucks! Try Gom Player or Pot Player, those two media players play MKV containers properly as well as any other format.
