Need some advice for purchasing PC Speakers

August 7th, 2016

Hey guys, I’m looking to get a hold of some speakers. I enjoy listening on my headphones but I miss how a good set of speakers makes songs feel much better. Not looking to break the bank, 100-200 is my limit depending on if a few quid more would make much difference.
I listen to a lot of genres, punk, metal, trance, happy hardcore and pop. So something with good bass but is flexible is what I’m after. And a subwoofer of course, I’ve looked around online but I couldn’t make my mind up. Asking always seems to be the best way to get good advice, thanks guys and sorry to be a bother

Logitech X-530 or X-540’s. I’ve had them for over a year now and they’re ~ censored ~ amazing.

Those are poorly made, wouldn’t buy Logitech’s speakers.

Microlab Solo 7c is decent.
They look nice, remind me of my nearly 30 year old B&Ws in their layout.
Should be good for some decent music and not just doof, doof stuff..
Got a spare input for Ipod etc too.

Yeah, I kind of went through the trouble of going to JB-HI-FI and testing every one of their speakers.
I then ended up in a computer shop and tried the Solo 7c, it smoked all the competition in computer speakers. The main thing I was interested was the sheer size of the drivers, you get more powerful output.
The bottom driver can give you low frequency, if its a bit too high to your tastes, you can change it. Its the same thing for car audio as well, you want bigger speakers.
However most people resort to using a subwoofer to get the dof feel. That thing dampens pretty much the music and you end up shaking things. The darkies in our countries love them huge subs, probably deafened them quicker as those things are not easy on the ears. Recently bought Corsair SP2500's, and have been very impressed, subwoofer is the size of a microwave.
I suppose probably, still its using weenie mid-drivers, you get limited output.

The WHARFEDALE DIAMOND 9.1 look amazing, don’t mind going over my budget for quality. Just a bit of a noob question, how would I plug it into my computers audio? Using a plain old audio cable and plug it into my headphone socket? Thanks for all the suggestions btw guys!
Answer #10
Oh you’ll have a fun time connecting that, provided you will also need an amp for it.
Home Theater speakers for PC is a no no.
Answer #11
I really like Logitech too… but the Z series.
The Z-906 are really nice.

Works great connected to Asustek Xonar Essence STX, no problems with output

No amplifiers in them…AFAIK..
You would need a home theater amp or something like this..
