motherboard with onboard gaphics or discrete graphics?

September 9th, 2018

Which motherboard is preferred, one with integrated graphics or the one with only discrete graphics solution. Just thinking- that with onboard graphics one can switch over to a graphics card anytime, but for the other mobo types(discrete graphics) u don’t have the option to switch over to the onboard graphics for troubleshooting issues with current graphics card and/or monitor…

I think, you should buy a mainboard with an o/b graphic card. sometimes you get problems with your graphic card, when an issue comes up, it can temporarily be on duty for you till you fix the problem Wink
Answer #2
What socket type are you looking at? Personally i would rather have a cheap dedicated card as a backup for your main dedicated card than any onboard solution.
Answer #3
Usually motherboards with onboard graphics are weak and their chipsets are also crippled compared to their bigger brothers
Answer #4
Get one with xternal graphics card. These boards are way better than the onboard ones like DreaM said.

With Intel CPU’s it has to be X58 or P55 equipped boards depending on what CPU your going for.
For AMD, its 890FX or 870 equipped boards. Boards with integrated video cards are usually not that good.
Answer #6
Usually motherboards build in VGA is a cheap boad, i woun’t get it. Get one with external graphics card

Like u all said that higher end motherboards are better than integrated graphics mobos… any specific reasons? I mean apart from getting better frame rates in games, is there any difference in durability or stability of system?

Good motherboards will have at-least 8 phases. And a few more for other stuff such as memory or chipsets.
Good boards will have heatsinks over voltage regulators.
