from my experience, the last time i had my browser (firefox) acting up like this was when i got myself infected with rootkits that are not dected by my anti virus (avg). what i reccomend you to do is to uninstall chrome completely and get these 2 apps:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

adwcleaner is very important. it helped me remove the rootkit malwarebyte didnt detect.

^ Completely uninstalled
Not quite!
You’d have to delete your profile folder too:
http://evansims.com/6425/resetting-your-chrome-user-profile/
This would delete your bookmarks as well, So maybe you should back it up first (You could probably restore em standalone later on if needed)

if im not wrong, hes already done that when hes deleted all folders in:
Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google

I haven’t noticed that this step was already mentioned in one of the guides you linked the OP to, My bad!
But still, The OP hasn’t mentioned anything about deleting the profile, And the fact that nothing changed makes
me believe he didn’t do it at all (It just doesn’t make any sense that this would continue happening with a new, clean profile!)
