File recovery programs don’t seem to recover working files

I’ve tried various recovery programs recuva, getbackdata, filerestore plus etc.
Even if I find a file I just deleted (to test it), it recovers it, but then won’t open it, whether its an mp3 or a jpeg etc.
Can anyone help me please?
(im testing it because a friend lost a folder of photos and wants me to recover them)

Try this it will certainly help.If your friend did not overwrite the files on HDD after deleting data it can recover as they were never lost.

nav, it seems to be all set up fine but i tried running a test.
i deleted a jpeg, then did a deep scan an found it using your program. when i try to recover however it comes up with just a 1kb file which wont open.
what am I doing wrong?

use recover my files search it on wbb i use it to recover my files deleted from my usb

I’ve just done the same with the program you recommended but have encountered the same problem. It recovered around 20 jpegs, this time in varying sizes (which is better than the 1kb ones previously) but not one of them would open. All with very good rating on recovery as well.
I feel I must be missing something but I don’t know what?! Any ideas?
