How to play downloaded PS3 games

August 5th, 2016

How do I play games that I download from here? Do I need to get my PS3 chipped? Or jailbroken? Thanks in advance.

it needs to be softmodded…if you are this unsure about the process or what is involved…it would be hard to help you through a message on here…but first off…what firmware are you running? did you buy the ps3 new? if so what version did it come with? it must be running on 3.55 (which of course yours wont be running bc im sure youve updated since then) so it will have to be downgraded…but if your ps3 left the factory with a firmware above 3.55 you will not be able to downgrade to 3.55… downgrading involes soldering… start with that and write back and we can help you from there

As an addition on , not so long ago the so called ODE’s (Optical Drive Emulator) were released. Basicly what they do, is act as a station between a harddrive and the Playstation, so the PS3 thinks it’s run from the drive as usual.
If your model number (check the back, should start with CHE, first starting numbers after that is what you need) is 2000 or lower, you can install it without soldering. If it’s higher you do have to solder. The good thing is that this works on any PS3 model, whereas jailbraking 3500+ models is not possible (even some 3000 models I believe).
There are a few brands, 3K3Y, E3 and Cobra. I’ve had other E3 products, it felt cheap, but worked just fine. Cobra seems pretty okay to me, but I don’t know for sure. Same goes for3K3Y
