Anybody know anything about CB Radios?
I have two Murphy Radio’s but can’t find an Antenna that fits the Jack, They all say standard 3/8 but mine don’t seem to be that big, the huy I got them from says he thinks they are pl529 but I can’t find any that are pl529 lol.

Answer #1
PL259 is the standard connector for CB radios. you can find jumper cables, antennas, meters etc. for CB radios with that connector. look on the radioshack site.

On that website they don’t say what connection type they are if it’s for a CB radio, they ARE a PL259.. you can google PL259 and get a picture of what they look like..
Answer #4
If they ARE a Pl259, does that mean they are “Standard 3/8”? Becuse all the ones that are on eBay are they are Standard 3/8 jack.
Answer #5
Logic… It’s a standard, so it should be everywhere.

if you have a 3/8″ jack like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000AAJ2CW/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=541966&s=pc then what you have is not a cb radio. it is a UHF or higher frequency transceiver!. a CB uses a pl259 which is much larger, and has threads on the outside. it is not used on better UHF radios because the losses at high frequencies are too great. what you will need to do is find what frequency it does operate at, and get the proper antenna, not only so it works properly, but if the wrong antenna is used, it can damage the transmitter section of the radio because the SWR will be way too high. if you post th model number i can see if there is any info on it.
Answer #8
The 3/8″ would refer to the size of the screw section at the bottom of the antenna that screws into the base.
The base then has the coax on it that would terminates in a PL259 plug..
@….That’s a BNC connector..

yes, but it’s about 3/8 in diameter.
Answer #10
3/8 wave is the type of antenna and the way it radiates signal. has nothing to do with the size of the antenna
