Installing XP Pro 64bit

October 9th, 2017

Hi
As a long user of 32bit xp home I’m now trying to install xp pro 64bit edition from an iso which I made bootable with Rufus software which simply asks you what iso you want to make it bootable with and then formats it which worked. But when I booted from the usb flash drive I get this on a black screen:
Micr....Wind..Startup Menu
1. Use UK-English keyboard with Western-European codepage [<cant remember the number>]
2. Use US-English keyboard with US-English codepage [437]
Enter a choice: 1
C:\>

I pressed 1 + enter to select uk english but it comes back with ‘bad command or file name’ same happens when pressing 2. Please help me! This is not what happens when you install xp home so whats different?

I know it’s none of my business..But why on earth XP 64 bit..It must be the most failed OS Microsoft ever released with so little support..
I will say cut your losses and stick to 32 bit or if you really want true 64 bit..Move on to Windows 7 64 bit..

Actually that was Vista imo but whatever. I have my reasons for wanting 64bit XP regarding old hardware equipment that will not work with Windows 7 and 32bit is limited in terms of ram you can use. I intend not to use it connected to the internet so support isn’t really an issue. I use Windows 7 sometimes but I like what I know and what I know well is XP

As I said..It’s none of my business..
I tried XP 64 bit in the past and it sucks big time..
If you think there is so little support for your hardware on Win7 wait until you see XP 64 bit..
I settled for 32 bit XP for years..With 4 GB RAM…
Don’t take offense..Go for it if you think I talk lot of garbage..

If the rest of your hardware is sub-par, there’s no point in having more than 4GB RAM. There’s nothing that will take advantage of it.
