What is needed to setup a website?

What’s needed to fully setup a website? I have no clue on how to set one up, so I need to get an idea of what all I’m going to be paying for setup wise.
I already have a domain from godaddy and hosting from hostgator.
From here, what all does the person have to do to get it up and running?
